a Taj Mahal Moment*

It’s been a year and a half that I’ve started playing squash on an on and off basis. And started playing for The Petroleum Institute not long back but just from the past 3 months. This inclusion in the team wasn’t on the basis of my performance rather the lack of availability of senior players due to their personal and/or professional commitments. Excited and happy I started my official journey in squash with The Petroleum Institute by playing in Abu Dhabi Squash League.

That time I just had one dream – to feel the feeling that one feels after winning a game! Every match I played, played with this dream in my mind. And last nights match was no different.

My opponent won the toss, game started and the ball gets rolling in the court. I had just one intention – to create that Taj Mahal moment. After so many ups and downs I was serving at 13 – 13. I told myself “you are going to make it”. And yes, I made it! I was now serving at 14 – 13. I was standing at that point where I could see my Taj Mahal moment but can’t hug it saying its mine! With all these thoughts running in my mind I served for my Taj Mahal moment…my opponent returned the serve but… “out! 15 – 13”, said the referee. And there I go…a lil pump in the air, excited and happy me, was celebrating my moment. I had created that Taj Mahal moment for which I was waiting for months.

At the end though I didn’t win the match (15-13,4-15,6-15,13-15) but I was very successful in creating my Taj Mahal moment which will serve me as an inspiration to create many more Taj Mahal moments in my life and others too!!!
